Recently The festival of Ganesh Chaturity ended in the country with lot of Pomp & Fervor, while Mumbai boast of Its Lal-Bagcha Raja, Surat Boast of its Unique Diamond Ganpati. Yes U read it Right a Diamond Ganpati! Surat is the commercial capital of Gujarat state and is renowned for its numerous diamond processing units and thus, rightly termed as “Diamond City”. Today, 92 percent of the world’s diamonds are cut and polished here in Surat. Can you Imagine owning a real diamond idol of Ganesh which has a market value of 600Crs market value? Indeed NO!
They say the cost of pious faith and beliefs are always inestimable, priceless!
Kanubhai Asodaria, an owner of a small diamond firm in India could not believe his luck when on his trip to Antwerp ( A financial Center in northern Belgium) to purchase rough diamonds, he found a diamond that had the shape of a holy Indian deity. The 182.53 carat rough diamond(weighs more than the famous Kohinoor diamond!!) that has significant outlines of a trunk, eyes, ears and even legs was mined from South Africa. Going by the current market price, the Ganesh idol is valued at 600CR and in international market its value is $100 million. Amazing! This rare yellowish grey stone which is approximately 48 mm high, 32 mm wide and 20 mm thick and weighs 36.50 grams is certified by the central government-run Indian Diamond Institute (IDI). Asodaria has shown his desire to not polish or sell the diamond under any circumstances.
A special thing about this idol is that it is not handmade but it is absolutely natural. WOW, it’s hard to imagine!!!
All the devotees around the city who wish to seek darshan of this exclusive Diamond Ganpati have to take prior permission of the owner. They have to call up Kanubhai’s office and are then given the time and date to seek the rarest of the rare darshan of Diamond Ganesh idol. This darshan can be had only during Ganesh puja’s. Mr. Asodaria stated,”it’s a rare diamond and it’s like an invaluable blessing in the form of diamond showered on us by Lord Ganesh himself”. We are devotees of Lord Ganesh. It is the only one natural diamond Ganesh exists in this world. I had kept it in a safe vault throughout the year at an undisclosed location. Asodaria family being a great devotee of Lord Ganesh feels that the diamond Ganesh idol proves to be lucky for them, for their entire family. The family does not intended to sale this idol as it is associated with their faith and belief which is priceless. Just as tourists from all over the world visits Taj Mahal similarly, Kanubhai intends to attract tourists from across the globe through his Diamond Ganesha! Thus carving the name of Gujarat and India on this beautiful canvas of the world.
Page3Surat hopes that all wishes of Kanubhai may come true !! Ganpati Bappa Morya!!!
