How to make Sindhi Aloo Patty (tikki) in 10 easy steps

In Indian households , Potato is a handy vegetable, as it is used extensively in Indian recipes. Be it a South Indian vegetable stew or North Indian Aloo Parata or Mumbai’s chaats and the yummy Batata Vada, Potato is an important ingredient.

Potato comes handy in preparing a lot of Indian snacks. If you have some unexpected guests and want to serve them something different, something spicy, something which is easy to make and will be ready in a jiffy, the Sindhi Aloo patty (tikki) is worth a try. Here is the recipe in 10 easy steps.

Ingredients for Sindhi Aloo patty:

For Aloo Patty
4-5 medium sized potatoes (boiled)
2 green chillies (finely chopped)
1 teaspoon sahi jeera
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
2 bread slices
Finely chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Oil for frying

For Stuffing

1 medium sized onion (finely chopped)
1 inch ginger (finely chopped)
2 green chillies (finely chopped)
Finely chopped coriander leaves
½ teaspoon dania powder
½ teaspoon jeera powder
½ teaspoon aamchoor powder
Salt to taste

Method :

1. Peel the boiled potatoes and mash them so that no lumps remain.
2. To this mashed potato add jeera, red chilli powder, chopped coriander leaves and chillies and salt to taste.
3. Soak the break slices in water for couple of seconds and then squeeze out excess water from them.
4. Mash them & add to the potato mixture.
5. Adjust the salt and make a soft dough and keep aside.
6. Prepare the filling by mixing the ingredients given for stuffing.
7. Now prepare the patty by taking an small amount of potato mixture, flatten it on your palm and place little bit of the stuffing in the centre and then close the patty and give it a round smooth shape.
8. Prepare all the patties in similar manner.
9. You can either shallow fry or deep fry them as per your choice.
10. Serve them hot with tomato ketchup or green pudina chutney.

Ready in jiffy, ideal and spicy snack for everyone.
