Postmodernism of Surat leads to the development of first elevated swimming pool in Gujarat

Surat develops a style in reaction to modernism by developing the first elevated swimming pool in Gujarat. This plush swimming pool will be one of its kind and will come up in fast developing area of Althan. Postmodernism of Surat has not only lead to great discoveries and invariable improvements in Gujarat, but it has also made Surat as one of the most dynamic cities in India.

Due to extremely fast developments in and around Surat city, it was time for Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to put forward the vibrant project of state’s first elevated swimming pool at Althan along with a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a health club. The extravagantly giant swimming pool will be constructed at cost of Rs 8 crore. Official sources said the deck of the elevated pool will be constructed at a height of seven feet above the ground level. With its distinctive design on the minds of our brilliant architects, the deck of the swimming pool will also house a gymnasium, a health club and a viewing area for the visitors. Sources said the elevated swimming pool will come up at SMC’s plot reserved for sub-center opposite Bhana College; which happens to be one of the prime localities in Althan area. This idea of first elevated swimming pool in Gujarat will attract many residents to not only use the pool but also use the health club and uniquely designed gymnasium. This will augment the enthusiasm in the citizens of Silk City to make use of the implausible facilities provided by their government.

Sources said that the civic body maintains around 10 swimming pools in the city. Many district, city, state and national level competitions have been held at Adajan swimming pool. SMC now plans to develop the State’s first elevated pool at Althan for such activities. Further developments are such that SMC has received around 10 tender applications from parties willing to develop the Olympic-sized elevated pool.  The final decision on the approval of tender will be taken up at the meeting of the Tender Scrutiny Committee (TSC) to be held next week. With its vivacious design and facilities, this elevated swimming pool is going to be a boon for the city’s development.

Residents will be permitted to use the pool on all the days with special discounted rates for health club as well as gymnasium. Jatin Shah, city engineer, said “It is going to be a unique design of a swimming pool in the entire state. The elevated design is first of its kind and will save space for the parking of the visitors.” It’s time for the Surat-wasiyo to rejoice in the glory of the elevated swimming pool. Shah further added “No swimming pool in the city has a health club. This will be the first swimming pool to offer gymnasium and club facilities to the residents. We would be working out special membership rates for the residents.”

We are sure to dive into the elevated swimming pool as soon as the construction is completed. With Mr. Modi on swach bharat abhiyaan, this city is playing its cards well to emerge as one of the major cities of India.
