People of Surat took a deep sigh of relief after the launching of air services in their city. The inaugural flight of Diamond Aeronautics Private Limited (DAL) and Ventura Air Connect on Surat-Bhavnagar route was flagged off from Surat airport on Saturday.
When SpiceJet suspended operations from Surat Airport after a buffalo hit its plane, Diamond Aeronautics readily volunteered to start its air services. Sources said that DAL, an airline company set-up by four diamond tycoons from Surat, sought permission from Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to go ahead with launching their air services to destinations like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Indore from the Diamond City.
Nine passengers, mainly from diamond industry, traveled in a nine-seater inaugural aircraft at 7.30 am. The flight took minimum time of 30 minutes to reach Bhavnagar. With this air service, the time to travel between Surat and Bhavnagar has reduced to just 30 minutes as compared to a 10-hours long journey. At present, the company has made two nine-seater planes available for the travelers Daily three flights will be operated on this route with a minimum fare of Rs. 2,000 and maximum fare of Rs. 4,000.
Chairman of Dharmanandan Diamonds Laljibhai Patel, said “It is a huge success for us. Collaboration of give companies made it possible to launch the first private airlines in Gujarat.” He said the morning flight will leave for Bhavnagar at 7.30 am and will halt at the Bhavnagar airport for 25 minutes before returning. The same flight will also travel to Rajkot, Bhuj and Ahmednagar in a couple of days. Ishwar Dholakia of Shree Ramkrishna Exports, reveals “The company plans to start a service connecting Surat to Indore in Madhya Pradesh on the arrival of the third plane. This service is not an initiative to earn certain profit but the real motive is to cater a better service to the business community and as well as passengers across the city. The company’s next agenda is to acquire a four-seater plane in the upcoming year”
Page3Surat hopes the services continue till eternity & anticipate that the company caters better services to the people of Surat and help bridge the Demand-Supply Gap of air connectivity for the city!
